The History of Aquazone Swim Club

Aquazone Swim Club opened its’ doors at Hillcrest Primary in 1993 under coach Tracy Loxley. In 2002, with the club running out of Highbury, Tracy hung up her stopwatch to pursue a career in the home. The club was taken over by the current Head coach Angela Marlton, who was at the time one of the club’s senior athletes.

From 2002, the club moved from Winston Park to HCA, finally settling at its’ first home, Hillcrest Primary School. From 2003, the swimmers training under Angela were registered to a Queensburugh based club, Beavers Swim Club.

In 2008 Joanne Gibson-Taylor joined the club as learn-to-swim and stroke correction coach. Belinda Dallaway joined as the learn-to-swim specialist in 2009, releasing Joanne to coach in her area of expertise – stroke correction, and freeing Angela to focus on competitive swimming and technique development.

In 2010 after 8 years affiliated to Beavers, the club decided it was time to spread their wings and compete independently.

2016 saw Aquazone joining forces with CURRO Hillcrest High and CURRO HCA Primary. We now enjoy state of the art facilities with a 25m and a 50m heated pool as well as an indoor learn to swim pool and a dynamic team of 7 full-time coaches and 2 part-time coaches.
